Simple. Reliable. Flexible.
These are the benchmarks that we continuously strive to meet with our Mediasite platform and the solutions it enables. But we understand that simple, reliable, and flexible can mean different things to different people. So today, in honor of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), the Mediasite team is making a point of reflecting on and reaffirming our commitment to accessibility as it pertains to those key benchmarks.
Being accessible is about being aware of different users’ needs and working to bring equity to the digital world. This awareness and commitment to inclusion is the goal of GAAD, a global event that shines a light on digital access and inclusion for people with disabilities. Over a billion people worldwide have disabilities or impairments, including visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive impairments. At Mediasite, we embrace the need to ensure that all users – including those with disabilities or impairments – can access the full spectrum of capabilities that our products offer.
One way that the Mediasite team demonstrates our commitment to accessibility is by publishing Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) documents for all of our products. VPATs show exactly how we measure up against industry standards including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 and 2.1 metrics and Section 508 regulatory mandates. VPATs help our customers ensure compliance with legal accessibility requirements, but they also reflect our commitment to transparency as we work to enhance the accessibility of our products.
The most current versions of our VPATs can be found here. (Note: Mediasite Mosaic is currently under audit, and a new VPAT document will be uploaded to the same location as soon as possible.)
We also believe that when it comes to accessibility, the work is never finished. Over the course of the past year, Mediasite has adopted an Agile Development process that allows us to introduce new features and upgrades on a rolling (usually monthly) basis. For example, as part of the brand-new Premier Player we introduced the ability to adjust caption colors, font, text size, and opacity. This will allow users to customize a unique caption display that meets their individual needs.
At Mediasite, we measure our work against ambitious standards, including and especially when it comes to accessibility, and we will continue to proactively seek opportunities to enhance the accessibility of our products. That is our pledge to you, and our small contribution to the spirit of GAAD.
