A group in the Netherlands called XS2Justice Foundation has been working for years to develop a special business model for third world countries to improve access to justice. Part of that business model includes a tool to finance legal services for the poor — about 4 billion people worldwide cannot rely on the law for protection, and more than 80 percent of property and people remain unregistered, according to the foundation.
“Non-profits, legal aid systems and pro-bono lawyering help the underprivileged find access to justice. But there will never be enough manpower to help 4 billion people,” said Rob C.T. Van Rooij, founder and chairman of XS2Justice Foundation. “An out-of-the-box, sustainable and scalable solution is needed.”
That’s exactly what the XS2Justice Foundation says it has created and will be the topic of an event on Sept. 13 at The Hague Institute for Global Justice in The Netherlands – and online.
The network is enlisting the help of Mediasite Events to make its one-day event hybrid by live streaming it so anyone in the world can participate regardless of location. Among the presentations is one from His Royal Highness Prince Constantijin of The Netherlands. The event aims to raise awareness and funds for this new legal empowerment model.
“We hope to reach as many people as possible through the Mediasite live stream. The Mediasite Events team was the best option for us, because it provides a complete turn-key solution to make our conference hybrid. The team does everything to capture and stream the content, allowing us to focus on the logistics of our in-person event in the Netherlands,” Van Rooji said.
Van Rooij says the new model includes an innovative Corporate Social Responsibility tool that lawyers worldwide can use. The tool enables the funding of cases that can’t be solved out of court through small donations from lawyers worldwide who will follow the case online.
The network is ready to start a small pilot of this program in Kenya with plans for a nationwide rollout and hopes to begin the program to 10 more countries before 2020.
