Later this month, our Mediasite Events team will webcast the EDUCAUSE 2015 Annual Conference in Indianapolis, Ind.
EDUCAUSE, Oct. 27-30, is the premier gathering for higher education IT professionals, exploring today’s toughest technology issues. EDUCAUSE started delivering sessions on-demand via Mediasite in 2005. Four years later, conference organizers created a live hybrid event, delivering both online and face-to-face experiences simultaneously, a model that continues to this day. From their desktops or mobile devices, hundreds of distributed participants from campuses across the world will join in-person attendees.
“With Mediasite, we capture our premium content, which enables us to bring thought leadership to people who can’t travel to our conference in Indianapolis due to time or budget restraints. It allows our remote attendees to have conversations with team members at their institutions about global topics being discussed at EDUCAUSE,” said Veronica Diaz, director of online programs. “The online attendees can see the presenter and the in-person audience, and that helps us bring the excitement of the conference to the masses.”
This year, EDUCAUSE arranged its virtual conference into four themes, so whether remote attendees gather as a team in one room and learn together or log in individually, they’ll be able to hone in on areas most beneficial to them.
The on-demand Mediasite videos are available to attendees for 90 days, and institutions use the knowledge captured at the conference as launching pads for further discussions throughout the year. EDUCAUSE also uses Mediasite-recorded content on its website as a marketing tool to promote future conferences and attract speakers.
“We’re honored to continue our more than decade-long partnership with EDUCAUSE, a true model for creating a valuable content strategy from their annual hybrid event. Our turnkey video streaming services help deliver successful, memorable online experiences to attendees, and the recorded content lives long after the last session, allowing EDUCAUSE to continue to share the most talked-about topics in the industry,” said Rob Lipps, Executive VP, Sonic Foundry. “Associations like EDUCAUSE are realizing the value of going hybrid and using that knowledge captured to attract future speakers and keep their members talking year round. We look forward to helping it broaden its reach even more with this year’s conference webcasts.”
