The Largest Economic Development Conference in the U.S. Goes Hybrid

November 05, 2015

More than 1,500 business and community professionals come together in Anchorage, AK twice a year for one of the two largest business events in Alaska and the largest economic development luncheon events in the country.

The 2016 AEDC (Anchorage Economic Development Corporation) Economic Forecast and Economic Outlook Luncheons focus on economic forecasts, trends and the future, and thanks to Mediasite, the whole world gets watch and learn.

For the past four years, AEDC has used Mediasite to capture and stream presentations from such prominent speakers as Terry Jones, founder of Travelocity, Jim Clifton, CEO of Gallup, and Daniel Pink, New York Times bestselling author.

“Mediasite expands our reach. Our events sell out, and it’s held in the biggest venue in Alaska. It allows hundreds of additional people to see the presentations and the information in a format almost as if they were there,” said AEDC president and CEO Bill Popp. “Mediasite also provides an opportunity for attendees who didn’t catch everything, had questions or wanted to share something with their peers or customers to go back and review.”

AEDC uses Mediasite analytics to measure the videos’ impact and value. Mediasite’s built-in reports show exactly who watched what and when so AEDC can understand viewing behaviors and engagement.

“We’ve looked at other video platforms before choosing Mediasite,” Popp said. “But none of them gave the quality we needed. Mediasite’s ability to simultaneously show the speaker and the presentation material like a PowerPoint was a must, and it allows our online attendees to feel like they’re in the room.”
